Kick start your Cinco de Mayo by heading out to the Nantucket Disc Golf Course tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. for the NDG Tournament! You may register on-site at the NDG parking lot at the corner of Lovers Lane/Ticcoma Way between 12:30-1:00 p.m. $20 entry fee includes disc, T-shirt, pen, scoreboard, and basic disc golf instruction. Looking for a way to round out your Daffodil weekend festivities on Nantucket? Register for the Nantucket Triathlon Club’s 2nd annual Nantucket Daffodil 5K this Sunday, April 29th at 9:00 a.m. in Sconset (Codfish Park). This event is open to both walkers and runners – just don’t forget to sport your brightest yellow apparel!

Opening in June, this culinary experience will encompass Asian, Mexican, Polynesian, and American flavors with Nantucket’s homegrown vegetables and the island’s fresh local seafood. Oh, did I mention a tartare and pancake bar?

Opening this summer in the new Nantucket Hotel & Resort, this cafe will be open for breakfast, luncheon and casual dinners – with both indoor and outdoor deck seating and bar.
- Nantucket Pasty Co. (On the “Strip”)
Coming in May. A pasty can best be described as a British version of empanada or calzone. It’s a hand-holdable pie with different fillings, very rustic and hand-baked. Steak, chicken curry, ham and cheese, and a clam chowder pasty will be offered – there’s also word a bacon, egg, & cheese pasty and fresh-squeezed OJ might even be on the menu!

Grab a lobster or clam roll (prices rumored to be $8-$16) from this mobile truck. Coming to Nobadeer May 25th (11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)

This concession, previously occupied by Nucci’s Italian Ice & Gelato, will be grilling up burgers and dogs.

The first annual Nantucket Book Festival ( June 15-17, 2012),will be drawing upon local authors and Nantucket’s incredible places to celebrate the cultural fabric of Nantucket, both past and present. This is a joyous experience for literary types and an exciting vacation opportunity for anyone who loves the rich cultural heritage of our beautiful island. What an amazing experience to combine a vacation on Nantucket with a weekend of panel discussions, parties, talks and readings for adults and children by island and off island writers. During the three day event there will be a tented book fair, panel discussions and an opportunity to meet authors up close and in person. All events will be free or reasonably priced. Attendees can meet and mingle with other book lovers and enjoy the ambience of a few days of indulging in a passion for reading for all ages!

The Artists Association of Nantucket‘s mission is to connect the island’s arts community and one of the ways the Association does this is by hosting many events -one of which is the Spring Sweep Silent Auction! Every April a one day silent auction is held featuring artwork from our local Nantucket artists. Member artists clear out their studios to sell their paintings in this annual event. This is a once-a-year chance to get great deals on fabulous Nantucket art!
Cocktail Preview – Friday April 6 from 6pm to 8pm , open bar, sweep peeper cocktails, hors d’oeuvre. Preview the work, place an early bid or “buy it now” on any piece.

Each April since 1974, Nantucket Island has come alive for the Nantucket Daffodil Festival. This event brings thousands of visitors to our beautiful island of Nantucket each April and this year the residents of Nantucket will be welcoming visitors from April 27th through the 29th.
Yellow daffodils bloom along roadsides and in gardens and hedgerows everywhere. The festival has evolved in the last 30 years and now includes a Vintage Motor Car parade which begins in town and makes the journey across the island via the Milestone Road to the charming village of Siasconset, where the Annual Daffodil Tailgate Picnic is held along the roadside leading into the village. Picnic fare ranges from elaborate gourmet cuisine served on fine china to box lunches.
Other highlights of this annual event include the Annual Daffodil Show which is co-sponsored by the Nantucket Garden Club and the American Daffodil Society other fun filled events include Children’s Daffodil Parade, Daffy Hat Pageant and for all the dog lovers amongst you the Daffodil Dog Parade is sure to delight!
